The stories

A wealth firm lets AI work a client's case for ten days. It still can't move a penny

A wealth firm lets AI work a client's case for up to ten days. It can't move a penny. Arca, a US firm that's just raised $48.5 million, explained how on Latent Space, an AI engineering podcast.

The agents analyse and propose. A human adviser does any trading or movement of money. And that limit isn't a prompt asking the AI to behave. "All of our safety restrictions are fully deterministic," said Aman Singh, Arca's lead AI engineer. "And they take the decision making off the agent's hands." The system can't take the risky step, whatever the AI decides.

Cases run stop-start, so Arca keeps a memory per client: what's happened, what's next, and who owns each action.

Singh's line for the whole thing: "agents prompt people more than people prompt agents."

OpenAI backed down on cutting ChatGPT Pro. Next, chat and long jobs share one allowance

OpenAI just backed down on cutting ChatGPT Pro usage. Thursday's release notes: "We've also canceled the Pro 200 reduction announced in our September 29 email." And "Pro 100 and Pro 500 plans now include twice their previous Work and Codex allowance".

Work runs longer jobs for you, like a research piece. Codex is OpenAI's coding agent, software that writes code on its own. On Pro they share one allowance, and chat is metered separately. For now.

Here's the catch. On Sunday OpenAI emailed Pro subscribers: "Use of ChatGPT and Codex will draw from the same allowance." Testing starts "in the coming weeks", and "more advanced models and complex tasks will use more of your allowance."

You'll see the gauge under Settings, then Usage. But BleepingComputer reported that OpenAI "won't provide exact numerical usage limits for each tier."

Gemini can now edit your whole slide deck from one prompt. Not on Business Starter

One prompt can now restyle every slide in your Google Slides deck. Type it in the Gemini side panel, like Google's example: "Update this whole deck to match the style of this [reference file]". It's rolling out slowly and may take longer than 15 days to reach you.

It can work from your Drive files, like a proposal, and it edits the real slides, so undo and version history still work.

Who gets it: Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Google AI Pro and Ultra on personal accounts, and Google AI Pro for Education. English only, and "There is no admin control for this feature."

The catch is a date. Higher limits for multi-slide decks are a promotion through at least 1 December 2026. Per-user limits apply after that.

Clear takeaways

  • Arca's rule: AI does the analysis, a human moves the money, and the system enforces it.
  • OpenAI cancelled the Pro 200 cut. Chat and long jobs will share one allowance "in the coming weeks".
  • Gemini restyles a whole Slides deck from one prompt, on Business Standard and above.

Do this now

  1. List every AI tool you use under four headings: read, draft, send, pay. Anything in send or pay needs a human click.
  2. Pick one client process an agent could draft, like a quote chase, and set it to queue drafts for a person to approve.
  3. On ChatGPT Pro? Open Settings, then Usage, and note the reset time.
  4. On Google Workspace Business Standard or Plus, try one deck with "Make the titles on all slides the same font size and color." Diary 1 December for the limit change.
