Google Meet recaps now land in Chat, with a named owner on every action
Posted 19 October 2026
Google announced on 19 October that after a Meet call, a recap card is posted into the meeting's Chat space.
The card holds a short summary of the topics and takeaways, the key decisions, and the action items with named owners. It also links to the Gemini meeting notes, the recording and the transcript.
It only appears if "Take notes for me" was switched on during the call and a meeting chat exists. If the host sets "Send notes to" hosts and co-hosts only, no card is posted to the group.
The cards arrive silently, with no unread badge. Any participant in the chat can delete a card, though the notes document stays in Google Drive.
It covers Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and Frontline Plus. It is on by default for organisations with Gemini for Google Workspace, and there is no end-user setting. Admins control it by switching Gemini on or off for the organisation.
Rollout began on 16 October for Rapid Release domains and starts on 27 October for Scheduled Release domains, taking up to 15 days to appear.
Staff can turn a Gemini-built app into a Google Sites draft in one click, with no new admin control
Posted 19 October 2026
Google announced on 19 October that an interactive app built in the Gemini app can be exported to Google Sites. A Gemini app, here, is a small working tool Gemini builds from a description, such as a quote calculator or a booking checklist.
In the Gemini app, choose Export, then Google Sites. It opens as a new private site draft with the app still working. You can then add content, publish it and share it like any other Google Site.
It is available now, on web, Android and iOS, to Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers and personal Google accounts that have the Gemini app.
Google says: "There is no new admin control for this feature." The export only works if Sites is switched on for the person and they are allowed to create and edit sites. Exported sites follow your existing Sites and Drive policies.
The post does not say what the default sharing setting is once a site is published, so check your own Sites settings rather than assume.
Clear takeaways
- Google Meet can now post the decisions and the owner of each action into Chat after a call, but only if Gemini notes were on.
- The recap names an owner for every action, so the check is whether the names and dates match what was said.
- Staff can now publish a Gemini-built app as a Google Site in a few clicks, and the only control is your existing Sites policy.
Do this now
- Ask whoever runs your Google Workspace whether your edition is on the list (Business Standard or Plus, Enterprise Standard or Plus, Frontline Plus) and whether Gemini is switched on.
- Run one internal meeting this week with "Take notes for me" on, then read the Chat recap card against your own notes. Count how many owners and dates it got wrong.
- Decide who is allowed to turn a client call into a recap, and agree that an owner on a card is a draft until the person confirms it.
- Ask your Workspace admin to check who can create and publish Google Sites, and what the default sharing setting is for a new site.
- Add one line to your AI policy: "Nothing built with AI goes on a public web page, or to a client, until a named person has checked the figures."
