Google puts a small business hub inside Gemini, connected to Xero, Shopify and your Google Business Profile
Posted 20 October 2026
Google announced on 20 October a new business landing page inside the Gemini app, which it calls "a central hub for small businesses owners". From it, owners can build their brand, analyse finances and review customer insights.
On finances, Google says Gemini "can turn messy spreadsheets, receipts, and purchase records into clear financial graphics" and interactive models, in seconds.
On brand, you upload your website, brand kit, fonts or colours once, and Gemini keeps that style when it makes images with its Nano Banana 2.1 image model.
It can connect to Google Business Profile, Google Ads and Google Workspace, and to Adobe, Canva, Dropbox, Shopify, Wix, Zoho and Xero.
Google says the hub, the marketing and finance skills and the connected apps "are beginning to roll out in the coming days globally for all Gemini app users". Its claim that tens of millions of small business owners use Gemini today is Google's own figure.
The post gives no price, does not say which Gemini plan is needed, lists no languages, and describes no admin controls for these small business tools. It points larger firms to a separate product, "Gemini for your business", for central admin controls and data governance.
Docs Live: Google Docs on your phone can now draft documents from your voice, using your Gmail, Drive and Chat
Posted 21 October 2026
Google announced on 21 October that Docs Live is rolling out in the Google Docs mobile app on Android and iOS. Google describes it as "a hands-free thought partner and co-writer": you talk, and it builds a structured document with you.
To personalise the draft, Gemini "automatically and securely draws from relevant content in your Gmail, Drive, Chat, and the web". Google's examples are project updates and customer pitches.
It covers Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Google AI Pro and Ultra, Google AI Pro for Education and the AI Expanded Access add-on. Google lists it as "available now" for both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains.
It is on by default for anyone with Gemini in Docs turned on. Google links to its Help Centre guidance on managing access to Gemini features. Google's tip for using it: "Be clear and prescriptive."
The post does not list supported languages or countries.
Clear takeaways
- Gemini's new business hub can connect to accounting, shop and file-storage tools, and Google's post describes no admin control for it.
- Docs Live is on by default for accounts with Gemini in Docs, and it drafts from your Gmail, Drive and Chat.
- The check is still yours: whose account is connected, and whose client detail ended up in the draft.
Do this now
- Ask your team: has anyone connected Xero, Shopify, Dropbox or a Google Business Profile to Gemini, and on whose Google account, firm or personal?
- Write one line into your AI policy: "Client data and accounting logins only go into AI tools on accounts the firm owns."
- If you run Google Workspace and are on Business Standard or above, ask whoever administers it whether Gemini in Docs is on, and who it is on for.
- Try Docs Live once on a non-client document, such as an internal update, and read the draft for any detail it pulled from your inbox or files.
- Before anything built with Docs Live goes to a client, have a named person check the names, figures and dates against the originals.
